‘BJP Has Already Started Breaking Promises’: Atishi Slams Delhi CM Rekha Gupta For Not Approving Rs 2,500 Scheme For Women

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Atishi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of betraying the people of Delhi by failing to approve the promised ₹2,500 financial aid for women in its first cabinet meeting.

In a video message, Atishi alleged that the BJP has already begun "breaking promises" and misleading the people. “BJP had assured Delhi’s women that they would approve ₹2,500 monthly financial aid in the first cabinet meeting. But when CM Rekha Gupta and her ministers took oath and held their first meeting, they failed to deliver. This proves that BJP has made up its mind to cheat Delhi’s people,” she said.

Meanwhile, CM Rekha Gupta, who chaired the first cabinet meeting after taking office, defended the government’s priorities. She announced the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme with an additional ₹5 lakh top-up and the tabling of 14 pending CAG reports in the first assembly session.

Responding to Atishi’s criticism, Rekha Gupta said, “This is our government, and we will set our own agenda. Let us work. She doesn’t need to dictate our priorities.”

Gupta also unveiled the portfolios for her ministers, with key departments like Finance, Revenue, and Women & Child Development under her charge.

The BJP, in its manifesto, had promised to implement Ayushman Bharat in Delhi, providing free treatment up to ₹10 lakh for underprivileged families. However, the omission of the ₹2,500 women’s scheme from the first cabinet meeting has sparked criticism from AAP, intensifying the political battle in the national capital.
