A major political controversy has erupted after a viral video allegedly showed Sikandrabad Nagar Palika chairman and BJP leader Pradeep Dixit announcing a reward of Rs 1 crore for beheading Trinamool Congress MP Saayoni Ghosh over an old social media post linked to a Shivling controversy.
According to reports, Dixit was allegedly heard in the video making inflammatory remarks against the TMC leader while expressing anger over the resurfaced post, which had triggered political debate in the past.
“I worship Lord Shiva for one hour every day. The act committed by TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh has deeply hurt me. Whoever brings Saayoni Ghosh’s severed head will be given a reward of Rs 1 crore,” Dixit was allegedly heard saying in the viral clip circulated online.
The video quickly sparked outrage on social media and intensified political tensions between rival parties.
However, shortly after the controversy escalated, Pradeep Dixit denied making any such statement and claimed the clip had been manipulated using artificial intelligence technology in an attempt to defame him politically.
He reportedly stated that the video was edited and falsely presented to damage his public image.
The controversy is linked to a social media post allegedly associated with Saayoni Ghosh dating back to 2015. The post resurfaced during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections and again during recent political campaigns, reigniting criticism from opposition groups.
Earlier, an FIR had also been registered against Saayoni Ghosh over the same issue. The TMC leader had maintained that her social media account was hacked in 2015 and claimed the controversial image was uploaded by the hacker without her knowledge.
Ghosh had further stated that the post was removed immediately after she regained control of the account.
The latest controversy has once again highlighted growing concerns over inflammatory political rhetoric and the increasing use of AI-manipulated content in Indian politics ahead of key elections and political campaigns.
