The brutal killing of a Hindu Bengali garment worker in Bangladesh has sparked strong reactions in India, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) holding a protest in New Delhi on Monday. West Bengal Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, along with party workers, demonstrated outside the Bangladesh High Commission, condemning the lynching and demanding strict action against those responsible.

The protest was organised to highlight the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a supervisor at a sweater manufacturing unit in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district. The incident has triggered outrage among political leaders and human rights activists, with BJP leaders alleging a pattern of violence against minorities in the neighbouring country.

Addressing protesters amid chants of religious slogans, Adhikari said the incident reflected a grave failure to protect minorities. He announced that the BJP would intensify its agitation in the coming days, including symbolic protests near the India–Bangladesh border and another demonstration outside the High Commission later this month. According to him, the party would continue raising the issue at national and international platforms until justice is ensured.

Meanwhile, Dipu Das’s brother, Apu Das, has strongly denied allegations of blasphemy levelled against the victim. Speaking to the media, he described the accusations as baseless and demanded the harshest punishment for those involved in the killing. The family has appealed to both governments to ensure accountability and safety for minorities.
