In a sharp and politically loaded statement, BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia hailed the Supreme Court’s refusal to stay the Survey of India Report (SIR), calling it a strong endorsement of the Election Commission’s authority and a firm response to what he described as “anarchist parties” like the RJD and Congress.
“The Supreme Court has not stayed the SIR, and it is a strong message to all anarchist parties like RJD and Congress who have no faith in the Constitution or constitutional bodies like the Election Commission,” Bhatia said during a press briefing in Delhi. He emphasized that the apex court had clearly stated that the Election Commission was acting within its jurisdiction to undertake this survey, which aims to enhance accountability and transparency in the electoral process.
Bhatia urged opposition leaders such as Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi to "introspect and respect" the decision, stating, “We hope sense prevails.” He added that the BJP welcomes the court’s stand and remains fully committed to strengthening democracy in the country.
Shifting focus to Karnataka, Bhatia accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar of engaging in a selfish power struggle instead of serving the public. “Karnataka's people are being let down by a government caught in internal sabotage. Siddaramaiah is obsessed with retaining power, while Shivakumar is fixated on dethroning him,” Bhatia alleged.
The BJP spokesperson claimed that such infighting was hurting governance and public interest in Karnataka. "While one dreams of continuing as CM, the other dreams of unseating him. The people of Karnataka deserve better," he added.
