BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Thursday accused political opponents of a “well-planned conspiracy” targeting Hindus during post-election celebrations in Maharashtra.
Speaking to reporters, Somaiya said, “The way Hindus are being threatened during the victory celebrations, saying that in the next five years they will make the entire city green and Islamize it, means that Hindus will not be able to live here anymore.”
The BJP leader’s remarks come amid growing tensions in certain parts of Mumbai following the BMC election results, where parties have reportedly been engaging in celebratory statements perceived as communal. Somaiya warned that such rhetoric could create fear among Hindu communities and affect the social harmony of the city.
He further alleged that these actions were “well-thought-out” and intended to intimidate Hindus, questioning the motives behind the celebrations. “This is not mere political victory celebrations; it is an attempt to divide communities,” Somaiya added.
