In a tragic incident on Sunday, a speeding BMW allegedly driven by 24-year-old Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, hit a two-wheeler in Worli, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old woman and severe injuries to her husband.

Fish sellers Kaveri and Pradip Nakhva were returning from Sassoon Dock when their scooter was struck from behind by the speeding car. The impact flung the couple into the air, landing them on the car?s bonnet. While Pradip managed to jump off, Kaveri was tragically dragged for 100 meters before succumbing to her injuries en route to the hospital.

Alleged Drunk Driving and Attempted Cover-Up

According to the police, Mihir Shah, who was reportedly drunk at the time, fled the scene after the accident. Before fleeing, he attempted to scratch off a Shiv Sena sticker and removed the car?s number plate to avoid identification.

Police reports indicate that Mihir, who had been out drinking in Juhu the previous night, asked his driver, Rajendra Singh Bijawat, to take him on a long drive. After reaching Worli, Mihir insisted on driving, leading to the fatal accident at approximately 5:30 am.

Following the crash, Mihir abandoned the car in Bandra Kalanagar and called his father, Rajesh Shah, to inform him of the incident before switching off his phone. Police suspect his girlfriend may be aiding in hiding him.

Legal Actions and Arrests

Mihir?s father, Rajesh Shah, and his driver were arrested last evening for non-cooperation with the police and other charges. They are set to be produced in court today. The car involved in the incident is registered in Rajesh Shah?s name.

Worli police have registered a case against Mihir for rash driving, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, endangering life, and various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Four police teams are actively searching for the suspect.

This incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice, as the community mourns the loss of Kaveri Nakhva and prays for the recovery of her husband, Pradip.
