The counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 began at 8 am on Friday, and one of the most closely watched battles is unfolding in Chhapra, where Bhojpuri superstar–turned–politician Khesari Lal Yadav is locked in an intense contest against the BJP’s Chhoti Kumari.

As per early counting trends, Khesari Lal Yadav of the RJD is trailing, while Chhoti Kumari has taken a decisive early lead. According to initial figures, Chhoti has secured 5,840 votes, while Khesari stands at 4,213 votes, placing him in second position with a gap of 1,627 votes.

The high-stakes Chhapra seat — located in the politically significant Saran district — is witnessing a fierce contest, reflective of its complex voter demographics. The constituency is heavily influenced by Yadav and Rajput communities, with a strong presence of Muslim and OBC voters, making the electoral dynamics here particularly sensitive.

Across Bihar, several big names are also shaping early trends.

Tejashwi Yadav (RJD) is leading from Raghopur.

Samrat Choudhary (BJP) is ahead in Tarapur.

Maithili Thakur (BJP) maintains a lead in Alinagar.

Vijay Kumar Choudhary (JDU) and Shrawon Kumar (JDU) are leading in Sarairanjan and Nalanda, respectively.
