Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced that the village of Mustafabad in Lakhimpur district will now be known as Kabirdham, emphasizing his government’s ongoing efforts to revive the state’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Speaking at a public event, CM Yogi highlighted that the ‘double-engine government’ — referring to the BJP’s rule at both the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh — is committed to the beautification and development of religious and historical sites across the state.
“Today it is our double-engine government in UP, and we said that every religious place should be beautified. People should get proper facilities there,” the Chief Minister said while addressing the gathering.
Yogi Adityanath shared an anecdote about how the decision came about.
“I was told that the name of this village is Mustafabad, and when I asked how many Muslims live here, I was told that it is not even one. We said, name this place Kabirdham,” he added, drawing applause from the audience.
The Chief Minister took a swipe at previous governments, accusing them of distorting the state’s historical and cultural names.
“Those people changed Ayodhya to Faizabad, Prayagraj to Allahabad... and it is our government that is changing Faizabad to Ayodhya, Allahabad to Prayagraj, and Mustafabad to Kabirdham again,” CM Yogi asserted.
