In a strong statement underscoring the party's commitment to democratic values, Maharashtra Congress State President Harshwardhan Sapkal declared that the Congress is prepared to lead the battle to protect India's Constitution and democracy. Speaking to a news agency in Nagpur, Sapkal said the party welcomes all like-minded forces in this mission.
“The Congress is fighting for democracy. Along with that, supporting and protecting the Constitution is the responsibility of Congress. In this responsibility and struggle, we will move forward with those who wish to join us,” Sapkal said.
He emphasized that the party's role extends beyond electoral politics and that Congress remains committed to upholding the values enshrined in the Constitution. The remark comes amid rising concerns among opposition parties over centralization of power and alleged misuse of institutions.
