West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday alleged a violent attack on his convoy in Cooch Behar, accusing senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and police officials of orchestrating the assault with an intent to kill.
Speaking to reporters, Adhikari said, "The Court had granted permission for me and five MLAs to visit the area. We even held a meeting with the Superintendent of Police. However, upon our arrival, an incident took place in Khagarabari, where my convoy was attacked."
Adhikari squarely blamed state minister Udayan Guha for leading the assault, stating, "Under the leadership of Udayan Guha and in full view of the police, my convoy was targeted. I was inside a bulletproof vehicle with MP Nishith Pramanik, and that car was brutally attacked — clearly with the intent to assassinate me."
He further alleged, "Udayan Guha is solely responsible for this and SP Cooch Behar, Dyutiman Bhattacharya, actively helped him. They orchestrated this attack using Rohingyas and Bangladeshi Muslims. This is a deliberate conspiracy."
Drawing parallels with recent events in Bihar, Adhikari warned of serious legal consequences, declaring, “After Bihar, SIR (Special Investigation Report) will be done in West Bengal too. Udayan Guha and Dyutiman Bhattacharya are killers. I will drag them to court and ensure justice is served.”
