Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reassured residents about the ongoing efforts to clean the Yamuna River, emphasizing that substantial progress is being made. In a statement, she said, "The work of cleaning Yamuna is going on. We are desilting the drains; hundreds of officials and large numbers of machines are working on the ground. Work is going everywhere, and the government is doing it in a time-bound manner."
Gupta highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring that the cleaning process is carried out efficiently and within the set timelines. "We are taking all necessary steps to address the environmental issues associated with the Yamuna. A significant workforce and advanced machinery are being deployed to ensure the river's restoration," she added.
The cleaning project, which involves desilting the drains and improving sewage systems, is a part of the Delhi government’s larger initiative to tackle pollution in the Yamuna. With increasing concerns over the river's deteriorating condition, the government has prioritized this effort to improve water quality and promote environmental sustainability.
