Following India’s thrilling victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut voiced strong criticism of the national cricket team’s post-match conduct.
Raut commented on X, saying, “The real nationalists have not watched yesterday's match… It is a drama that they refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. I tweeted a video where the entire Indian team is shaking hands with him 10 days ago… Why are the soldiers and the victims of Pahalgam being insulted?”
The MP’s remarks come amid growing political debate over the symbolic gestures during the final’s presentation ceremony, where Team India reportedly declined to accept the trophy and medals from Mohsin Naqvi, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairperson and Pakistan’s interior minister.
Raut questioned the team’s approach, highlighting concerns about respect for Indian soldiers and the victims of past terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, while also pointing to a perceived inconsistency in the players’ gestures towards Pakistani officials prior to the tournament.
