BJP MP and actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has launched a scathing attack on the Himachal Pradesh government, expressing deep concern over what she called the “worsening condition” of the state. In a pointed statement, she criticised governance failures and alleged misuse of resources while drawing attention to her personal experience with inflated electricity bills.
“There is a wave of PM Modi in the entire country and saffron… But it is painful to watch Himachal Pradesh’s condition,” Ranaut said during an interaction with the media.
Highlighting her own ordeal, she revealed, “The electricity bill of my Manali house is Rs. 1 lakh when I don’t even live there.” The remark has sparked fresh debate on rising power tariffs and alleged billing irregularities in the state.
Taking a jibe at the ruling government, Ranaut added, “Their (government) agencies are probing samosas. We feel embarrassed about what is happening.” Her comment alluded to recent controversies in the state involving probes into minor expenditures and petty issues, which, she implied, showed misplaced priorities.
“It is our responsibility that we have to take our state on the path of progress. We have to free our state from the claws of these ‘Bhediya’ (wolves),” she said, using a metaphor to describe what she sees as exploitative political elements currently in power.
Ranaut, who recently made her electoral debut by winning from Mandi, has been vocal about governance and infrastructure concerns in her home state. Her latest remarks are seen as part of the BJP’s renewed offensive against the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government ahead of upcoming civic and local body elections.
