'If They Strike Me In Bengal, I Will Shake Their Foundation Across India': Mamata Banerjee Launches Nationwide Yatra Against EC

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday unleashed one of her sharpest attacks yet on the BJP and the Election Commission, declaring that she will embark on a “nationwide yatra” to oppose what she calls a coercive and politically motivated Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Addressing a high‑voltage rally in Bongaon, Banerjee accused the Election Commission of transforming into a “BJP Commission” and alleged that the SIR process was being carried out in an unscientific, forceful and discriminatory manner. She claimed that 35 people have already died because of the EC’s “ruthless drive to purify the voter list,” warning that such actions would have far‑reaching consequences.

Issuing a direct warning to the BJP, Banerjee declared: “If BJP tries to strike me in Bengal, I will shake its foundation across India.”

She urged citizens not to panic, assuring them that no genuine voter would lose their rights. “Do not be afraid if you are a genuine voter. For years they didn’t conduct SIR. Now they want you to write that you were Bangladeshi and want to become Indian. As long as I am here, I will not allow them to exclude you,” she said to loud cheers.

Banerjee questioned why similar SIR processes were not being implemented rigorously in BJP‑ruled states if the objective truly was to identify infiltrators. She accused the Centre of failing to control illegal entry, stating that border management and airport security lie squarely under central agencies.

The Trinamool Congress chief predicted a major political shift in the years ahead, asserting that the BJP would lose the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections and be ousted nationally in 2029. Her message was unmistakably bold: “If they hurt me, I will show what I can do. I will move across India after the election. Bangla has the guts—Bangla will capture power in Delhi.”
