The Kerala Congress on Thursday shared a video of a packed train from Uttar Pradesh?s Gorakhpur, addressing Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan in their tweet. The accompanying text read, ?Dear Amitabh Bachhan?,? tagging the actor?s X account.
?We need a small help from you. Crores of ordinary people are forced to travel like this. Even the reserved compartments are packed with people. It is 52 degrees Celsius in North India, and this video is from Gorakhpur where the UP Chief Minister hails from,? Kerala Congress stated.
The video depicted an overcrowded train compartment, with passengers struggling in the intense heat, using plastic fans to try and stay cool.
The Kerala Congress criticized the Central Government, noting that while the nation?s population grew by 14 crore in the past decade, the number of trains added to the fleet has not been proportionate. ?We?ve added quite a few Vande Bharats to the fleet even though half of them are running with very low occupancy,? the party said.
Explaining why they reached out to Amitabh Bachchan, the Kerala Congress mentioned that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw did not respond to their requests to increase the number of trains.
?However, he swiftly responds to issues highlighted by the affluent and celebrities even if the request is about recovering a hacked Twitter account,? the Kerala Congress said, expressing their frustration at the lack of response to the needs of ordinary citizens.
