As the Maharashtra Assembly Elections draw closer, the state?s political landscape is bustling with activity. Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis recently filed his nomination papers from the South West Nagpur Assembly constituency on October 25. Alongside his nomination, an affidavit has disclosed notable details about Fadnavis' financial assets, shedding light on the wealth he holds as he enters the election race for the sixth consecutive term from Nagpur.
Fadnavis? Wealth and Financial Assets
According to his affidavit, Devendra Fadnavis holds assets valued at approximately ?5.25 crore, with only ?23,500 in cash. His property includes both movable and immovable assets, reflecting a noticeable increase in his total wealth since the last assembly elections in 2019. At that time, Fadnavis declared his assets to be worth ?4.24 crore, including movable property worth ?45.96 lakh and immovable property valued at ?3.76 crore. Over five years, this figure has risen by ?1 crore 80 thousand, which Fadnavis attributes to the appreciation in land prices.
Fadnavis? affidavit also revealed a loan of ?62 lakh taken from his wife, Amruta Fadnavis. Amruta, a prominent banker and social figure, declared her own property holdings at ?7.92 crore, including movable assets worth ?6.96 crore and immovable property estimated at ?95.29 lakh.
No FIRs, Background in Agriculture and Social Service
In the affidavit, Fadnavis disclosed that he does not face any FIRs or criminal cases. He listed agriculture and social service as his professional backgrounds, emphasizing his commitment to public welfare. His clean record and years of public service have bolstered his image in the state, and he aims to capitalize on this reputation as the BJP seeks another victory in Maharashtra.
Rallying the Supporters: Fadnavis? Address to Voters
At a rally held before he filed his nomination papers, Fadnavis praised the achievements of the Mahayuti government, emphasizing the tangible improvements his coalition has made for the people of Maharashtra. He stated, ?The work done by the Mahayuti government in the state speaks for itself,? underscoring his faith in the government?s performance and the goodwill it has garnered among citizens.
Additionally, Fadnavis took the opportunity to criticize the opposition parties, arguing that their schemes, particularly the ?Ladki Bahin? initiative, lack the substantive impact necessary to earn voters' trust. Fadnavis believes his record and the BJP's policies, especially those benefiting women and other marginalized communities, will be decisive factors as the election approaches.
What Lies Ahead?
With Maharashtra?s elections set for November 20, Fadnavis? declaration of wealth and rally speech have already begun shaping the discourse. As one of Maharashtra?s leading political figures, Fadnavis? role as Deputy Chief Minister, his record of service, and his transparent financial declaration are key points of focus for voters and political analysts alike.
The coming weeks will be pivotal as Fadnavis and other contenders campaign across the state, laying out their visions for Maharashtra?s future. For Devendra Fadnavis, a sixth term could mean continued influence in Maharashtra?s leadership and further strengthening of the BJP?s position in India?s wealthiest state.
