Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent statement in Boston, USA, in which he allegedly spread misinformation about India’s democratic institutions. Fadnavis accused Gandhi of attempting to defame India’s constitution and questioning the country's democratic values.
In a statement, Fadnavis remarked, "It is very sad that Rahul Gandhi goes abroad and spreads lies about the institutions created by the constitution of this country and tries to defame it. He tries to raise questions about democracy." He further suggested that Gandhi's actions stemmed from the aftermath of his party's repeated electoral losses.
Fadnavis also questioned Gandhi's character, saying, "The way Rahul Gandhi is behaving has raised a question mark on his character." He advised the Congress leader to focus on regaining the trust of the people instead of indulging in such actions, adding, "Instead of doing such things, if he goes among the people and gets the trust of the people back, then he will be able to win the elections. He cannot win elections by defaming anyone."
