West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday filed her nomination from the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency, marking a key moment in the state’s political developments.

Banerjee walked from her residence to the nomination centre, and the short journey turned into a roadshow-like scene. Large numbers of supporters gathered along the route, cheering and waving. She greeted them with folded hands and smiles, creating a lively atmosphere in the area.

After filing her nomination, Banerjee addressed the public and greeted people from different communities. She said, “I extend my greetings, my thanks, my respects, my salaam, my Jai Jinendra and Sat Shri Akaal to everyone.” She also assured that her work would not be limited to Bhabanipur and added, “Along with the Bhabanipur constituency, I will work for every centre and every area. We will form the government.”

Meanwhile, a meeting between the Trinamool Congress delegation and the Election Commission of India turned controversial. The party claimed that the meeting lasted only a few minutes and ended on a tense note.

TMC leader Derek O'Brien alleged that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar behaved inappropriately during the meeting. He said the delegation had submitted letters from Banerjee raising concerns about alleged links between some election officials and the BJP.

“Then he said, ‘Get lost’. We have done eight to nine meetings with the Election Commission. Apart from the CEC, none of the other election commissioners spoke,” O’Brien claimed.
