Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday termed the Nagpur violence "unfortunate" and confirmed that the police are investigating whether the clashes were a pre-planned conspiracy. He emphasized that several outsiders were involved in the unrest, and strict action will be taken against those responsible.
"The incident which occurred in Nagpur is unfortunate. Police are investigating if this was a pre-planned conspiracy. Four DCP-level officers were injured in this incident. The Chief Minister is reviewing the situation. Police have said that many people came from outside. Petrol bombs were also hurled. It is unfortunate that the police were also attacked. Strict action will be taken in this incident. I appeal to all to maintain peace," Shinde stated.

The Deputy CM also assured that the state government is taking the matter seriously. "We will not tolerate attacks on law enforcement. The guilty will face severe consequences," he asserted.
