Narendra Modi To Take Oath As Prime Minister On June 9: Astrological Advice Delays Ceremony

In a significant development, Narendra Modi is set to take the oath as the Prime Minister of India on June 9, as reported by India Today, citing sources. Initially, the swearing-in ceremony was scheduled for June 8, but the date has been changed following astrological consultations.

Previously, media reports suggested that Modi and several ministers of his new cabinet would be sworn in on the evening of June 8. The grand ceremony is expected to see the attendance of several world leaders and key figures of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal are among the first dignitaries to confirm their attendance. Both leaders had earlier congratulated Modi on the NDA's performance in the 18th Lok Sabha elections. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has also accepted Modi's invitation and conveyed his congratulations during a phone call.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 240 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, falling 32 seats short of the 272-seat majority mark. Despite this shortfall, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term in office. To govern effectively, the BJP will need to rely on its coalition partners, notably Nitish Kumar of the JD(U) and Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP.

This result marks a setback for Modi, who had aimed for a landslide victory under the slogan '400 paar'. Nevertheless, the upcoming swearing-in ceremony on June 9 will mark the beginning of his third consecutive term as Prime Minister.
