Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday lauded the transformative impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, asserting that it is now fully implemented across the country and delivering visible results.

Speaking at an event in Rajasthan, Pradhan highlighted a significant improvement in India’s global academic standing. “The National Education Policy 2020 is fully in force in the country today. Its implementation has begun, and it is yielding positive results,” he said.

Referring to the recently announced QS World University Rankings 2026, the minister shared that 54 Indian institutions have made it into the prestigious Global 500 list, a sharp rise from just 11 in 2014. “There has been a leap from 11 to 54 in the last 10 years,” Pradhan said, attributing this success to the collective efforts of the nation’s academic community. “I express my gratitude to India’s academic community for this achievement,” he added.

Pradhan emphasized that the implementation of NEP 2020, which focuses on blending traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern educational models, will continue to shape India’s progress. “By implementing India's education system based on its knowledge tradition, we will continue to develop India until the middle of the 21st century,” he said.

The National Education Policy 2020, introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to overhaul the Indian education framework, placing greater emphasis on multidisciplinary learning, flexibility, innovation, and global competitiveness.
