Nirmala Sitharaman To Hear Youth Voices After Union Budget 2026

Union Budget day will have a special twist this year as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to directly interact with college students from across India after presenting the Union Budget 2026–27 in Parliament on February 1.

According to official information, around 30 students from different parts of the country will be invited to be part of this unique experience. Before the interaction, the students will watch the Budget presentation live from the Lok Sabha Gallery, giving them a rare opportunity to witness one of the most important parliamentary events from inside the House.

The selected students represent a wide mix of academic backgrounds, including commerce, economics, medicine, and skill-based vocational courses. Coming from multiple states, they are expected to bring diverse perspectives on education, employment, and economic challenges faced by the youth.

As part of the programme, the students will also visit the Finance Ministry at Kartavya Bhawan, where senior officials will explain how policies are drafted, how budgets are prepared, and how financial decisions shape the country’s development. The visit is aimed at helping students understand how government institutions function beyond textbooks.

Later in the evening, Finance Minister Sitharaman will hold an open discussion with the students. The conversation will focus on the priorities of the Union Budget, India’s long-term economic vision, and how young people fit into that future. Students will be encouraged to freely share their thoughts, expectations, and ideas related to jobs, education, innovation, and nation-building.

Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s effort to connect policy-making with the aspirations of young Indians. Inputs and feedback from citizens, especially youth, have been collected during the budget-making process and are expected to be reflected in the final proposals.
