The development comes just hours before the NDA legislature party meeting, where the next leadership is likely to be finalised.
Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar chaired what is being seen as his final cabinet meeting at the state secretariat. The meeting, held at around 11:30 am, marked the closing chapter of his tenure as Chief Minister. During the session, he expressed gratitude to his cabinet colleagues for their support and cooperation throughout his time in office.
Notably, the cabinet meeting did not take up any policy decisions or agenda items. Officials also confirmed that the customary press briefing following the meeting was cancelled, underlining the transitional nature of the proceedings.
In a key move, the cabinet recommended its dissolution, effectively clearing the path for the next government to take charge. This step is seen as a formal precursor to the swearing-in of a new administration under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Sources indicate that Nitish Kumar is scheduled to meet Governor Syed Ata Hasnain later in the afternoon, where he will officially submit his resignation. The move is expected to take place around 3:15 pm.
