Odisha Chief Minister Allocates Portfolios To Cabinet Ministers; Retains Key Departments

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assigned portfolios to the newly sworn-in ministers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, keeping crucial departments under his purview. The cabinet reshuffle, following the recent assembly elections, saw 16 ministers, including the Chief Minister himself, receiving their respective responsibilities.

Mohan Charan Majhi, serving as both Chief Minister and holding the Home, General Administration and Public Grievance, Information and Public Relations, as well as Water Resources portfolios, has positioned himself at the helm of administrative affairs. The Deputy Chief Ministers were also entrusted with significant roles: Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has been assigned Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment, along with Energy, while Pravati Parida takes charge of Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism.

Among the other key appointments, Suresh Pujari has been designated as the Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management, while Rabi Narayan Naik will oversee Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water. Nityananda Gond assumes responsibilities for School and Mass Education, ST & SC Development, and Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare, and Krushna Chandra Patra will handle Food Suppliers and Consumer Welfare, along with Science & Technology.

Health and Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs, and Electronic and Information Technology have been entrusted to Mukesh Mahaling, with Bibhuti Bhusan Jena overseeing Commerce and Transport, Steel & Mines. Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra takes charge of Housing and Urban Development, along with Public Enterprises.

Additionally, five ministers were appointed as Ministers of State (MoS) with Independent Charge: Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia (Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Labour & Employees State Insurance), Suryabanshi Suraj Sthitaprajna (Higher Education, Sports and Youth Services, Odia Language Literature and Culture), Pradeep Bal Samanta (Co-operation, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts), Gokula Nanda Mallik (Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), and Sampad Chandra Swain (Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education).
