In a significant escalation of cross-border hostilities, the Indian Armed Forces successfully repelled a massive drone offensive launched by the Pakistani military, targeting key military installations along India’s western frontier. The revelation came during a joint press briefing held by MEA Secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi on Friday.

"On the intervening night of May 8 and May 9, Pakistani army tried to attack military installations on the western borders. From Leh to Sir Creek, Pakistani army used drones for infiltration," stated Colonel Qureshi, underscoring the scale and ambition of the operation.

According to her, Pakistan deployed 300 to 400 drones in a coordinated strike across 36 locations, attempting to breach Indian defenses along the entire stretch of the western border. "Pakistan used Turkish drones to attack India," she confirmed, highlighting the foreign technology allegedly involved in the strike.

All attempts were successfully neutralized by India’s defense systems, said Colonel Qureshi. However, the Pakistani side resorted to further aggression using heavy artillery and drone attacks in sensitive sectors including Uri, Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor, leaving several Indian soldiers injured.

In retaliation, India launched precision drone strikes on four Pakistani military installations. "One of these drones was able to destroy an AD (air defence) radar," she revealed.

One of the most alarming aspects of the Pakistani offensive, as per Indian officials, was the alleged use of commercial airlines as cover during the drone attacks. Colonel Qureshi presented evidence showing commercial flights flying overhead while the assault was underway, raising serious concerns about Pakistan’s disregard for civilian safety.
