In the wake of India's precision strikes under #OperationSindoor, Pakistan on Wednesday summoned the Indian Chargé d’Affaires to lodge a strong diplomatic protest, calling the action a “blatant act of aggression” and a violation of its sovereignty.
According to a statement by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO), the Indian official was summoned over the “unprovoked strikes” on multiple locations in Pakistan’s Punjab province and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), which were carried out shortly after midnight.
Pakistan claimed that at least 26 people were killed and 46 others injured, including women and children. The FO said, “These strikes resulted in the deaths and injuries of several civilians, including women and children. It was conveyed that India’s blatant act of aggression constitutes a clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.”
Terming the strikes as contrary to the UN Charter, international law, and norms governing inter-state relations, the Foreign Office rejected what it described as “India’s baseless justifications for its hostile conduct.”
The statement further warned that India’s actions posed a serious threat to regional peace and stability, urging restraint and adherence to international norms.
India’s missile strikes came in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 Indian nationals, including security personnel and civilians, were killed. The Indian military reportedly targeted nine terror launchpads across the LoC, focusing on facilities linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and other banned outfits.
While New Delhi has not officially responded to Pakistan’s protest yet, Indian officials have maintained that the strikes were “precision-targeted counter-terror operations” with “no civilian casualties reported on the Indian assessment grid.”
