During a high-level bilateral meeting in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the strong and evolving partnership between India and Singapore. “Our relations go far beyond diplomacy. This is a partnership with purpose, rooted in shared values, guided by mutual interests, and driven by a common vision for peace, progress, and prosperity,” Modi stated.

Addressing global security concerns, PM Modi highlighted the need for joint action against terrorism. “We have common concerns about terrorism. It is the duty of all humanitarian countries to fight terrorism in solidarity,” he said, expressing gratitude to Singapore for its support and condolences following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

The Prime Minister announced the inauguration of the India Mumbai Container Terminal Phase II, developed by Singapore's PSA International, showcasing the deepening cooperation in the maritime sector. “The agreement for Green and Digital Shipping Corridors will give impetus to the green fuel supply chain and digital port clearance in the maritime sector. Singapore’s experience is extremely useful in this,” he added.

PM Modi also emphasized innovation and technology as key pillars of the partnership, noting enhanced collaboration in AI, quantum computing, and other digital technologies. Youth engagement was highlighted through initiatives like the India-Singapore Hackathon, alongside digital connectivity progress via UPI and PayNow integration.

Economic collaboration was another focus, with Modi reviewing trade agreements, including the Bilateral Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement with ASEAN, to boost mutual trade. Singapore’s support for India’s advanced manufacturing was acknowledged, including projects like the National Centre of Excellence in Chennai and sustainable industrial parks.

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong praised the mutual trust and resilience between the two nations. “In a world marked by great uncertainty and turbulence, our partnership grows even more important,” he said, highlighting cooperation in space technology, skill development, connectivity, and manufacturing.

Both leaders agreed on a roadmap to guide the next phase of India-Singapore cooperation, expanding into new areas while strengthening existing ties. The visit marks a milestone as India and Singapore celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations and reinforce their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
