Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited Himachal Pradesh to personally assess the large-scale destruction caused by cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides. Conducting an aerial survey of the worst-affected regions, PM Modi later chaired a high-level review meeting and declared a special relief package worth ₹1,500 crore for the state.

Along with this, he announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each to families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Stressing that rebuilding efforts must go beyond temporary relief, Modi said the government would adopt a “multi-dimensional approach” to restore normalcy and support affected citizens.

Key measures announced include:

PM Awas Yojana for reconstruction of damaged homes with geo-tagging for speedy aid delivery.

Restoration of highways and schools to ensure connectivity and uninterrupted education.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi advance payments and additional help for farmers without power connections.

Mini livestock kits and water harvesting recharge structures to protect rural livelihoods and secure water resources.

The Centre has also sent Inter-Ministerial teams to assess the ground reality, with further aid to follow based on their report. PM Modi met with grieving families and assured them that the Union government will stand firmly with Himachal in its most difficult hour.

He lauded the NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army, and local administration for their tireless efforts in rescue and relief operations, calling them the backbone of disaster response.
