Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a significant diplomatic journey today, traveling to Poland and Ukraine with the aim of bolstering bilateral relations and advocating for peace. This visit comes as both nations celebrate 70 years of diplomatic ties.

In a pre-departure statement, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for this diplomatic mission, highlighting the pivotal nature of these visits. "My visit to Poland comes as we mark 70 years of our diplomatic relations. Poland is a key economic partner in Central Europe. Our mutual commitment to democracy and pluralism further reinforces our relationship. I look forward to meeting my friend Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to further advance our partnership," he said, as reported by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The visit to Poland, scheduled for August 21-22, will include meetings with Polish leaders and engagements with the Indian community. A ceremonial welcome in Warsaw will kick off the visit, during which PM Modi aims to discuss economic cooperation and strengthen the bilateral partnership.

Following his Polish leg, PM Modi will travel to Ukraine, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. At the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the visit is set to focus on enhancing bilateral ties and discussing the peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. "I look forward to the opportunity to build upon earlier conversations with President Zelenskyy on strengthening bilateral cooperation and share perspectives on peaceful resolution of the ongoing Ukraine conflict. As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region," PM Modi stated.

The visit reflects India's commitment to fostering stronger international relations and promoting stability in conflict-affected regions. Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, highlighted the significance of the trip, noting, "PM @narendramodi emplanes for Warsaw, the first destination of his 2-Nation visit to Poland and Ukraine.
