Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, renewed his membership as the first active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking the launch of the party?s 2024 membership drive, Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024. Modi?s renewal of his membership serves as the symbolic beginning of an effort aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots level ahead of the upcoming elections.
Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), Modi posted, "Adding momentum to our endeavour of making a Viksit Bharat! As a @BJP4India Karyakarta, proud to become the first Sakriya Sadasya and launch the Sakriya Sadasyata Abhiyan today in the presence of our national President, Shri @JPNadda Ji." He emphasized that this campaign will ensure the effective contribution of BJP workers toward national progress.
The Prime Minister also explained the criteria for becoming an active member. "In order to be an Active Member, a Karyakarta has to register 50 members either at a single booth or in a Vidhan Sabha seat," Modi said, highlighting that such members will be eligible to contest elections for positions in Mandal Committees and higher, further encouraging participation at multiple levels within the party.
The renewed membership drive comes as part of the BJP?s broader strategy to expand its influence and engage with younger demographics. Modi urged BJP workers to make special efforts to connect with the youth, underlining that these new memberships would coincide with the implementation of the 33 percent reservation for women in legislative assemblies and Parliament, positioning BJP as the only political party committed to democratic processes.
"The BJP is expanding its work and strives to live up to the expectations of the people," PM Modi added, as he encouraged active engagement from Karyakartas across the country.
With the membership drive in full swing, the BJP looks to solidify its organizational structure and grassroots outreach in preparation for the 2024 general elections, further empowering party workers to take on leadership roles and contribute to the party's national agenda.
