Ending his notable career as a political strategist, Prashant Kishor made his official entry into active politics with the launch of his political party, the 'Jan Suraaj Party,' on Wednesday, October 2. The date holds significant symbolism, being Gandhi Jayanti, a day commemorating Mahatma Gandhi, whom Kishor has often credited as a major influence on his ideals and political vision.
The announcement came at a grand event, marking a new phase for the man who has shaped electoral campaigns for some of India?s most influential political leaders. Kishor had already set the stage for this moment with his 'Jan Suraaj' movement, which he initiated in Bihar on the same date, a year prior, in 2022. The movement, a precursor to his newly formed political party, was rooted in a broader campaign to bring socio-political reforms in the state and empower the people of Bihar.
?Jan Suraaj campaign is going on for 2-3 years. People were asking when we will be forming the party. We all must thank God, today the Election Commission has officially accepted 'Jan Suraaj' as Jan Suraaj Party,? said Kishor at the launch, emphasizing that this moment had been a long time in the making.
Addressing the audience, Kishor called upon the people of Bihar to raise their voices for justice and dignity. ?You all need to say 'Jai Bihar' so loudly that no one calls you and your children 'Bihari' using it like an abuse. Your voice must reach Delhi. It must reach Bengal where students from Bihar were beaten. It must reach Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Bombay wherever Bihari children were abused and beaten,? he declared passionately, touching on issues of discrimination faced by Biharis across the country.
Kishor's rallying cry underscored his commitment to uplift Bihar and challenge the stereotypes that have often plagued the state and its people. With the Jan Suraaj Party now officially registered by the Election Commission, Prashant Kishor steps into a new political role, determined to bring about transformative change, starting from Bihar.
The coming months will be crucial for Kishor as he transitions from his behind-the-scenes role in Indian politics to being a key player in shaping its future direction. The Jan Suraaj Party is set to be closely watched, not just for its policy agenda but also for the impact Kishor's leadership will have on Bihar?s political landscape.
