Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured swift and strict action against the absconding accused in the alleged rape of a 26-year-old woman inside a stationary Shivshahi bus at Pune’s Swargate depot. The horrific crime, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday, has triggered a political storm in the state.
Shinde condemned the incident, calling it “unfortunate and condemnable.” He revealed that CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar are closely monitoring the case. "The culprit, whoever he is, will not be spared. Strict action will be taken," he asserted.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena (UBT) staged an aggressive protest at the Swargate bus depot on Wednesday, even vandalizing the security post, demanding immediate justice. The police have registered an FIR and launched a manhunt to nab the 36-year-old accused, Dattatraya Ramdas Gade. His photo has been circulated by authorities to aid in his capture.
