Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI) following revelations that over 52 lakh voters are missing from the electoral rolls in Bihar. Gandhi alleged that this is part of a larger pattern of electoral fraud being carried out across several states.
Addressing the media in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi said, “It is not just about those 52 lakh people missing in Bihar. This is part of a systematic cheating process. In Maharashtra, during the Assembly elections, we asked the Election Commission to show us the voter's list, but they refused. We also requested videography of the voting process, but they altered the rules related to that.”
He further claimed that massive irregularities have occurred in voter registration. “In Maharashtra alone, one crore new voters were added without explanation. In Karnataka, we caught a huge theft of voters' data. I will submit evidence in black and white to the Election Commission and expose exactly how this theft was carried out.”
Rahul Gandhi warned that the Congress party is closely monitoring these developments. “They have understood that we are aware of their game now. So their new strategy is to delete existing voters and bring in a new voter list altogether,” he added.
The Election Commission has yet to respond to these serious allegations. The discovery of 52 lakh missing voters in Bihar comes during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which has already triggered political controversy in the state.
Opposition parties, including the Congress and RJD, have accused the ruling NDA of manipulating electoral processes ahead of crucial elections. The EC, on its part, has maintained that the revision is being done transparently as per standard protocol.
