A fresh political storm erupted on Thursday after BJP national spokesperson and Jaunpur MP Sambit Patra launched an aggressive attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of repeatedly maligning India on foreign soil and attempting to “incite civil unrest” through provocative remarks.
Speaking to the media, Patra alleged that Rahul Gandhi has a consistent pattern of criticising India’s democratic institutions during his foreign visits.
According to Patra, “Rahul Gandhi goes abroad and speaks irresponsible things about the country. He tells other nations that democracy in India has collapsed and urges them to intervene. He has even compared the RSS and BJP to the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Patra further claimed that the Congress’s rhetoric threatens social harmony.
He said the party had spoken about taking to the streets and creating unrest similar to situations seen in Bangladesh and Nepal, which, he argued, reflects a dangerous mindset. “He goes abroad and targets every constitutional institution. The time has come to reject him completely,” Patra said.
‘Sad Touch, Not Midas Touch’
Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi’s leadership within the Opposition coalition, Patra said the INDIA bloc has now realised that Gandhi brings defeat, not success.
“It’s not Midas touch, it’s sad touch. Whoever he supports ends up losing,” he remarked.
He cited the Opposition’s performance in Uttar Pradesh, the ongoing political uncertainties in Bihar, and internal tensions in Karnataka as examples of what he described as Rahul Gandhi’s “failed political influence”.
Calls for Caution Against Congress
Patra concluded by labelling Rahul Gandhi “unfit for politics” and accused him of undermining India from international platforms. “Rahul Gandhi is only fit to inspire anti-India narratives abroad. The nation needs to stay cautious of him and the Congress party,” he said.
