Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar has declared his intent to "take control of Maharashtra" as his party gears up for the upcoming state assembly elections later this year. This announcement follows the NCP (SP)'s strong performance in the recently concluded general elections, where it won eight out of the ten Lok Sabha seats it contested in Maharashtra.

In a significant victory for the Pawar family, Sharad Pawar's daughter, Supriya Sule, secured the Baramati seat for the fourth consecutive term, defeating her cousin Ajit Pawar's wife, Sunetra Pawar. This triumph has further bolstered the NCP (SP)'s confidence as they prepare for the state assembly polls.

Sharad Pawar has been actively engaging with constituents in Baramati, laying the groundwork for the upcoming elections. Addressing a gathering in Shirsuphal village, he reflected on the electorate's silence during the general elections. He reassured his party members that the voters' quiet demeanor did not indicate disengagement and that their faith would be revealed through their votes?a prediction validated when the election results were announced.

As the state elections approach, Pawar urged the people to remain united. He emphasized the importance of winning the assembly polls to achieve his goal of governing Maharashtra. Pawar highlighted his extensive political experience, recalling his four terms as chief minister, a decade-long tenure as Union agriculture minister, and two years as defense minister, attributing these roles to the collective support of his constituents.

Pawar also addressed local issues, promising to tackle them after the elections, given the current government's constraints. He assured the public that with their continued support, the NCP (SP) could resolve their concerns once in power.
