Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday expressed strong satisfaction after the Supreme Court dismissed the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) plea to initiate a probe against his wife, Parvati Siddaramaiah, in connection with the controversial Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allocation.

Reacting on social media, Siddaramaiah called the ruling a "resounding slap of justice on the face of the Central Government," praising the bench led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinodchandra for upholding constitutional values. He said the verdict reaffirmed his lifelong commitment to the law and the Constitution.

The Chief Minister didn’t hold back his criticism of the BJP and its allies, accusing them of orchestrating a political witch-hunt using central agencies. “Unable to defeat me politically, the BJP misused institutions like the CBI and ED to harass my wife and family with fabricated charges. The suffering and mental agony we endured are unforgettable,” he said.

He cited Chief Justice Gavai's remarks during the hearing—“Political battles should be fought through elections, not by weaponising agencies like the ED”—as echoing the sentiments of every Indian who respects democracy and the Constitution.

Siddaramaiah also accused the Modi government of systematically misusing enforcement agencies such as the Income Tax Department, ED, and CBI over the past decade to silence dissent. “This verdict brings a sigh of relief to every political leader and citizen who has been unfairly targeted,” he said.

Urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to grant genuine autonomy to constitutional bodies, Siddaramaiah called on them to “atone for their sins” of political vendetta.
