In a significant political move, Tamil superstar Vijay unveiled the flag and symbol of his political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), on Thursday. The event took place at the Panaiyur party office, where Vijay hoisted the newly designed flag, which features a striking combination of maroon and yellow with elephants on both sides and a peacock surrounded by stars at the center. Alongside the flag, the actor also released an official anthem for the party, which was composed by the renowned music director S Thaman, with lyrics penned by V Vivek.
The launch of the flag marks a crucial step in Vijay?s political journey, which began in February when he announced the formation of TVK and his intention to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Notably, TVK did not align with any political bloc during the recent Lok Sabha elections, positioning itself as an independent force in the state?s political landscape.
During the flag unveiling, Vijay expressed his pride and optimism for the future, stating, "I know you all are waiting for our first state conference. Preparations are on for it and very soon I will announce it. Before that, I unveiled our party's flag today. I feel very proud? We will work together for the development of Tamil Nadu." He further assured his supporters that "Tamil Nadu will be better from now on. Victory is sure."
The flag reveal is set to be followed by a massive rally in Vikravandi, northern Tamil Nadu, in the last week of September, formally launching TVK in the public eye. The party?s registration with the Election Commission is reportedly in its final stages and is expected to be completed soon.
The event was attended by over 300 workers of TVK, as well as members of Vijay's extensive fan clubs, reflecting the actor?s widespread influence and the enthusiasm surrounding his political debut.
