On Thursday former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to address and clear up "unwarranted speculations" surrounding a viral video. The video in question appeared to show Home Minister Amit Shah speaking to her in an aggressive manner on stage during the swearing-in ceremony of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, June 12.

The video sparked significant online discussion, with several netizens suggesting that Shah was angry with Soundararajan over her comments regarding Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai following the party's disappointing performance in Tamil Nadu's recent elections.

In an attempt to clarify the situation, Tamilisai Soundararajan posted on X: "Yesterday as I met our Honorable Home Minister Sri @AmitShah ji in AP for the first time after the 2024 Elections he called me to ask about post poll followup and the challenges faced.. As I was elaborating, due to paucity of time with utmost concern he advised to carry out the political and constituency work intensively which was reassuring. This is to clarify all unwarranted speculations around."

The Kerala Congress also weighed in on the matter, sharing the video with the caption: "BJP's culture and attitude towards women. Anyone with some self-respect will give it back to him and quit, @DrTamilisai4BJP. Being a qualified doctor and a former governor, you don't have to take such insults, that too from a history sheeter!"

Reports suggested that Tamilisai Soundararajan had recently endorsed AIADMK leader S P Velumani's comments that the BJP, had it allied with the AIADMK for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu, could have prevented the DMK from achieving a sweeping victory.

There have also been reports of tension between Tamilisai Soundararajan, who resigned from her post as Telangana Governor earlier this year to run unsuccessfully for the Chennai South parliamentary constituency, and BJP President Annamalai.
