As the Bihar Assembly elections enter their final stretch, RJD leader and Grand Alliance CM face Tejashwi Yadav has unveiled a major set of welfare promises aimed at women and farmers.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, November 4, Yadav announced that if the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) comes to power, women from economically weaker and backward families will receive ₹30,000 annually under a new initiative called the ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’. The amount will be directly deposited into beneficiaries’ bank accounts every year on Makar Sankranti (January 14).

The RJD chief also pledged free electricity for irrigation, better Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for key crops, and a comprehensive plan to strengthen Bihar’s rural economy. He said, “The people of Bihar are ready for change. They want a government that works for women and farmers, not for political show.”

The announcement comes a day after Nitish Kumar’s government transferred ₹10,000 each to 25 lakh women under a self-employment scheme — a move widely seen as a counter to the Opposition’s campaign focus on women empowerment.
