Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is currently leading an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation to raise awareness about Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, expressed deep concern over the recent terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. The violent incident, which authorities have described as a targeted act of ideological terror, took place on Sunday near a courthouse in downtown Boulder.
Taking to social media, Tharoor wrote, “Members of the Indian MPs' delegation learnt with concern about the terror attack in Boulder, Colorado, today. We are relieved there was no loss of life. We all share the Secretary of State Marco Rubio's view that 'terror has no place' in our countries,” he posted on X.
The attack, which reportedly involved Molotov cocktails and a makeshift flamethrower, left at least six elderly individuals injured, all of whom are currently hospitalized. The suspect, identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, was taken into custody and charged by the FBI in what they are calling a “targeted terror attack,” according to Fox News.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino stated that early findings suggest the assault was “ideologically” motivated. The suspect was allegedly shouting “Free Palestine” during the attack, which took place near an event organized by Run for Their Lives, a group advocating for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. This connection has raised further concerns about extremist violence at politically charged events.
The Anti-Defamation League confirmed the presence of the event in the vicinity, while FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized federal involvement in the investigation. “We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado,” Patel wrote in a post on X.
Local law enforcement responded swiftly to the scene after receiving emergency calls around 1:26 p.m. Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn confirmed the use of incendiary devices in the assault and commended first responders for their timely intervention.
