Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over unemployment and rising inflation, saying the government was ignoring the real economic crisis facing the country while focusing on issues like electric vehicles.
Addressing party workers and supporters during his visit to Raebareli, Rahul Gandhi claimed that ordinary citizens, especially labourers, farmers, youth and small business owners, were facing growing economic hardship.
“PM should understand one thing, the problem is not electric vehicles. The real problem is unemployment and inflation. I don't know what world he is living in, telling people to use electric vehicles,” Rahul Gandhi said during the public interaction.
The Congress leader further warned that the country was heading towards a major economic challenge and urged the government to act immediately.
“Right now, his duty is to protect the labourers, farmers, the nation's youth, the poor, and small business owners, and here we are saying to him that a storm is coming. Take action and protect the country! Instead, he is doing something else,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly criticised the Modi government over issues related to unemployment, inflation and economic inequality in recent months. His latest remarks come amid increasing political confrontation between the Congress and the BJP ahead of upcoming elections in several states.
The BJP has consistently defended the government’s economic policies, stating that India remains among the fastest-growing major economies globally and that initiatives in infrastructure, manufacturing and green mobility are aimed at long-term growth and employment generation.
