‘They Just Want To Defame Me, They Can’t Win In Court’: Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel Slams ED After Raid At His Residence

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has hit out at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after a raid was conducted at his residence, alleging that the agency’s actions were politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing his reputation. Speaking to the media, Baghel questioned the legality and intent of the raid, stating that the ED arrived without permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI) and used dramatic tactics to create hype.

"On one hand, they came here without the permission of the ECI, and on the other, they brought a machine just to create hype. They recovered only ₹33 lakh, yet they are making a big spectacle out of it. They just want to defame me... They don’t have anything else against me," he said.

Baghel also accused the central agency of deliberately conducting raids whenever he leaves Chhattisgarh, implying a pattern of harassment. "I haven’t received any summons. I am not running away. But every time I step out of the state, a raid happens. This is nothing but an attempt to harass me," he stated.

He further alleged that despite four years of investigation, the ED has failed to establish a strong case against him, and the timing of the raid suggests a politically motivated agenda. "It has been four years, and they still couldn’t probe properly because they know they can’t win in court," Baghel added.
