West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday issued a strong call to action against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), urging citizens to break the party’s hold on both the central and state governments. Speaking at a public rally in Kolkata, Banerjee accused the BJP of attempting to divide Bengal and disrespecting the Bengali language.

"Break the BJP’s rule in Delhi, break the BJP’s double-engine government, and remove the BJP," she declared, rallying her supporters. The fiery speech comes amid allegations that Bengali speakers have faced discrimination—and in some cases, arrests—simply for using their mother tongue.

“What’s happening to the Bengali language is unacceptable,” Banerjee said. “If any Bengali is arrested just for speaking Bangla, remember, this fight will go all the way to Delhi.”

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader emphasized her party’s commitment to defending Bengal’s culture, language, and dignity. She accused the BJP of trying to impose a singular national identity at the cost of regional pride.

“We do not respect those who are trying to divide Bengal,” she added, asserting that the state's unique heritage would never be compromised.
