Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the recent incident in the Supreme Court, where a lawyer attempted to throw an object at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai. Speaking on the matter, Kharge said,
"We condemn the incidents that occurred in the Supreme Court and the insult meted out to CJI...Such people should be condemned by all our lawyers and the Bar Association."
Kharge further stressed the importance of upholding law and order and educating those who misuse religious texts for disruptive purposes:
"Those who are still violating people's fundamental rights in the name of Manusmriti and Sanatan Dharma must be educated. Those who attempt to spread unnecessary tension in society and disrupt peace must be educated and held accountable..."
