After the recent Lok Sabha elections, political activity in Maharashtra has shifted towards preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. Both major political alliances, Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi, are actively organizing and auditing constituencies to strengthen their positions.
The attention of Maharashtra is now firmly fixed on the assembly election date. In a significant update, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently provided a clue about the timeline for the elections during a public event.
At a ceremony marking the key distribution for rehabilitated residents of Kranti Nagar and Sandesh Nagar, located near the Mithi River in Chandivali and the Airport Authority site, CM Shinde addressed the audience. The event, held at the HDL Complex in Kurla, was part of a broader initiative to rehabilitate project-affected slum dwellers.
During his speech, CM Shinde revealed that the Maharashtra assembly elections are likely to be held in November, within the next two months. This announcement has generated considerable interest and speculation about the precise election schedule.
Additionally, CM Shinde used the opportunity to endorse Dilip Lande for the Chandivali Assembly Constituency and discuss the progress of various rehabilitation projects, including the Ladki Bahin Yojana. He highlighted the importance of these projects, particularly the slum rehabilitation scheme, which aims to address the housing crisis in Mumbai.
Shinde emphasized that stalled projects would be resumed to encourage people to return to Mumbai. "Home is everyone's dream," he stated, underscoring the government's commitment to making Mumbai slum-free. He also noted a one-month extension for the Ladki Bahin Yojana, allowing women to apply until September.
Reflecting on the past, Shinde remarked on the legacy of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, who had envisioned a slum-free Mumbai. He criticized previous administrations for not prioritizing this goal and pledged to continue the work of slum redevelopment under his leadership.
As Maharashtra gears up for the elections, the political landscape is rapidly evolving, with all eyes now on the November polling date.
