Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana on Tuesday expressed strong disapproval after learning that an MLA had spit pan masala inside the Vidhan Sabha hall, calling it an unacceptable act of misconduct. Taking immediate action, Mahana personally ensured the area was cleaned before the commencement of the House session.
Addressing the Assembly, Mahana revealed that he had reviewed video footage of the incident and had identified the MLA responsible. However, he chose not to publicly name the legislator, stating that he wished to avoid humiliation.
"This morning, I received information that a Member has spit after consuming pan masala in this hall. So, I came here and got it cleaned. I have seen the MLA in the video but do not want to humiliate anyone. If the MLA confesses, it will be good; otherwise, I will call them," Mahana stated, urging all MLAs to ensure cleanliness and discipline inside the Assembly.
