Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib was taken into custody by Delhi Police on Tuesday in connection with the shirtless protest held during the AI Summit in the national capital. He was later produced before a court, which granted four days of police custody. The protest had taken place at Bharat Mandapam, the venue hosting the high-profile international summit.

According to police officials, the investigation revealed that key details related to the planning and execution of the protest were allegedly in Chib’s possession. Sources involved in the probe said investigators suspect that he had a significant role in shaping the structure and timing of the demonstration during the summit.

Police also claimed that during questioning, Chib did not fully assist the investigation. Officials alleged that he avoided giving direct answers to several questions and attempted to deflect queries raised by the investigating team. Based on the material collected and statements recorded so far, police said they had sufficient grounds to proceed with his arrest.

The case has been registered under multiple provisions of law linked to conspiracy, unlawful assembly, obstruction of public servants, disobedience of official orders, and actions considered prejudicial to national unity. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and further steps will be taken based on evidence gathered during custodial questioning.
