Fresh protests erupted in the Nepalese capital as demonstrators, primarily from Generation Z, demanded the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli following a deadly crackdown on earlier demonstrations that left at least 19 people dead and hundreds injured. The unrest intensified after the government temporarily lifted a ban on social media platforms, but protesters continued to block roads outside the Nepal Parliament and in Kalanki, expressing outrage over what they described as the government’s authoritarian approach. Witnesses reported that security forces had opened fire on demonstrators in Kathmandu and Itahari on Monday, resulting in the deadliest civilian protest crackdown in recent years.
One protester told ANI, "Yesterday, many students were killed, and the Prime Minister of Nepal, KP Sharma Oli, should leave the nation. Students should continue to raise their voice..." Despite government measures to control the situation, the protesters remain resolute, demanding accountability and immediate resignation of the Prime Minister.
