In a significant diplomatic development, Russian President Vladimir Putin will undertake a state visit to India on December 4–5 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday. Moscow described the upcoming visit as “specially important,” emphasizing that it will offer both nations a crucial opportunity to review and advance their long-standing Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
According to the statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the visit aims to strengthen cooperation across key sectors such as defence, energy, trade, science, technology, and global strategic stability. Officials from both sides are preparing for a detailed agenda, which includes high-level talks, bilateral agreements, and a comprehensive assessment of ongoing projects.
The Ministry said, “On December 4–5, President Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit carries special importance, offering an opportunity to review the entire Russia-India special & privileged strategic partnership.”
Diplomatic sources indicate that Putin and Modi are expected to discuss global geopolitical changes, including the Ukraine conflict, Indo-Pacific security, and multipolar cooperation under platforms like BRICS and SCO.
