A video capturing a sharp verbal exchange between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh during a DISHA committee meeting in Raebareli has gone viral on social media, fueling political discussions.
The incident took place at the Collectorate auditorium, where Gandhi, serving as the committee chairman, stressed that all discussions should proceed with his consultation. Singh retorted, “Since Rahul Gandhi doesn’t follow the Speaker’s directions in Parliament, why should I listen to his directions here?”
Speaking to News18 after the meeting, Singh alleged that Gandhi wanted to conduct the session outside the framework of DISHA guidelines. “We don’t need to accept wrong statements. He comes with a team and three-page drafts,” Singh remarked.
Tensions briefly eased when tea was served. In a lighter moment, Gandhi offered Singh extra tea and biscuits after the minister jokingly referred to DISHA guidelines about tea service.
Dinesh Pratap Singh, once a Congress member, joined the BJP in 2018. He has contested against the Gandhi family twice in Raebareli but lost both times. His latest confrontation with Rahul Gandhi adds yet another chapter to their political rivalry in the high-profile constituency.
